The 99th edition of the International Exhibition of leathers, accessories, components, fabrics, synthetics and models presented a summer of 2023 under the banner of change.

The 99th edition of Lineapelle, which was held at Fiera Milano Rho, from 22 to 24 February, brought out a strong desire for freedom and change.

The event closes with 960 exhibitors divided into 6 halls and 13,000 buyers, stylists and creative consultants mostly from France, Spain, the United States, Turkey, Germany, the United Kingdom and Portugal. Missing, as expected, were Asians and buyers from countries who imposed restrictions on international travel.

The international event showed a proactive fashion industry that wants to go back to normal. The desire for freedom and change translates into the introduction of new colors and processes. First of all, lively and bright nuances and fluorescent colors, sometimes almost excessive, then risky combinations, gritty prints and, finally, whimsical patterns. In fact, summer 2023 will be characterized by many patterns and prints, liquid metals and foils.

Even for processing the ordinary is completely banned, not infrequently different techniques are combined to obtain surprising effects. Green light therefore to shine, sequins, pleats, studs, piercings, embroidery on buffered and wrinkled leather, 70s tie-dye, washed and squeezed effects.

The summer of 2023 will also see many laminates and metallics as protagonists, both smooth and on micro-prints, wavy and very soft tassels.

All this, without neglecting the more sustainable side of the tannery. A strong desire for change emerged from Lineapelle both in stylistic and ethical terms. The world of tannery has, in fact, proved to be innovative, but also responsible. Fashion is no longer interested only in the green issue, but also in sustainability and business ethics.
